Kruger Untamed operates seasonally between 1 May and 30 September. Our tented camps disappear entirely after each season, leaving no trace behind.

We have two remote camps – Tshokwane River Camp and Satara Plains Camp – both set within private, wildlife-rich concessions in Kruger National Park, away from tourist crowds.

We offer immersive safaris in seasonal, eco-sensitive tented camps. You’ll experience raw wilderness with bucket showers, campfire dining, and expert-led tracking. This is a light-luxury, deep-wilderness experience.

Yes. All activities are led by armed, highly trained guides. Camp safety includes electric fencing, 24/7 monitoring, and staff on standby for emergencies.

Kruger is home to the Big Five – lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, and buffalo – as well as cheetah, wild dog, giraffe, hippo, hyena, and 500+ bird species. Sightings are never guaranteed and sometimes the small stuff is just as exciting, if not more, than the big stuff!

Yes. Twice daily game drives are standard. You may also choose to track animals on foot in the mornings or afternoons. Our walking safaris are limited to eight guests and led by certified Trails Guides.

Yes. Evening drives can return as late as 22:00, offering a chance to encounter nocturnal wildlife under the stars.

Yes. Walks are only conducted under strict safety protocols with both a Lead and Backup Trails Guide, both armed and experienced.

Spacious canvas tents with en-suite bathrooms, hot bucket-style safari showers, RV-style chemical flushing toilets, crisp linen, mosquito nets, and solar lighting. Each tent has a private verandah and sleeps two adults. A small dressing area can convert into a second bedroom with two single beds for families.

Each camp has 15 tents as a standard but can expand up to 30 tents for groups and events, hosting up to 60 guests.

There is limited Wi-Fi in communal areas when the generator is running. There is no cellphone reception – a feature, not a bug.

All meals are included – hearty bush breakfasts, light lunches, and three- course dinners served under the stars. We cater to most dietary requirements with advance notice.

Yes, all house wines, beers, spirits, soft drinks, tea, and coffee are included. Premium drinks are available from a cash bar.

We welcome children aged 12 and older. Exceptions for younger children can be made for exclusive use bookings.

Absolutely. Both camps are available for exclusive use – ideal for families, retreats, or private groups seeking a custom wilderness experience. And if you want to hold an event like a wedding or corporate retreat at our camps, they expand to 30 tents each, accommodating 60 guests in each camp.

Cool, dry, and beautiful. Expect chilly mornings and evenings, warming up by midday (10–28°C). Tip: Dress in layers – think beanies, gloves, scarves at dawn; t-shirts by lunch.

Yes, the Kruger National Park is a low-risk malaria area. Please consult your doctor before travelling.

No mandatory vaccinations are required unless you are arriving from a yellow fever zone. Routine travel vaccines (eg: tetanus, hepatitis A) are recommended.

Yes. A resident doctor is based at Skukuza, an hour away. Emergency evacuation procedures are in place and all guides are first aid certified. In addition there is an excellent private hospital with 24/7 ER facilities in the nearby town of Hoedspruit.

Visitors from most countries (UK, EU, USA, Australia, etc.) do not need a visa for stays under 90 days. Always confirm with your nearest South African consulate.

Skukuza Airport (SZK) is the closest (1 hour from camp) and Hoedspruit Airport (HDS) is also close by. Daily flights are available from Johannesburg and Cape Town. We can arrange transfers on request.

We provide road transfers from Skukuza Airport and Hoedspruit Airport and park entry gates. Self-driving is also possible, but cars must be parked at our designated Park & Ride area.

How long does it take to drive to camp?

  • Skukuza to Tshokwane: ±1 hour
  • Skukuza to Satara: ±2.5 hours
  • Tshokwane to Satara: ±1.5 hours via H1-3

Yes, for charging phones and small battery devices only. No hairdryers or kettles, please.

Tipping is entirely optional but always appreciated. We suggest R200–R300 per guest per day for guides and staff combined.

No. Drones are not permitted inside the Kruger National Park.
